GEMA Vision: Uniting Tradition and Progress for a Brighter Future
May 5, 2014Platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok are now used to share short videos on GEMA traditions, language, and folklore. This digital approach ensures that GEMA’s cultural heritage remains accessible and relevant in today’s world, allowing youth to learn at their own pace.
Mentorship programs play a significant role in connecting generations. Through GCA’s initiatives, young people can learn directly from cultural leaders, artisans, and storytellers. These mentors share valuable knowledge, from traditional crafts and agricultural practices to language preservation. This form of education not only enriches the young but also provides a sense of continuity and responsibility for preserving their heritage.
To foster a sense of ownership, GCA has also launched a Youth Ambassador Program. Selected young individuals from the GEMA communities are trained as cultural ambassadors, representing GEMA at events and even schools and universities. This initiative encourages the youth to see their heritage as a source of pride and leadership, helping them to stand tall in their identity.
